CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to our families, staff and students for making this a very successful term.  I hope you have a Happy Easter and a wonderful Term 1 break.  We will see you on Wednesday April 26 for the start of Term 2.

Thank you also for the Easter Raffle donations and congratulations to all of the winners.

Our condolences go out to Nicole Forbes 3/4CF teacher who lost her dear mum Bev last Sunday.  Our thougths and prayers are with her and her family as they prepare to celebrate her life.

CLOSURE DAY NOTIFICATION & TERM 2 STARTING DATE

Please remember that Thursday (April 6) and the first Monday back next term (April 24) are closure days.  Staff will be involved in a reflection, data analysis and report writing process in readiness for our School Improvement External Review in August.

Tuesday April 25 is a public holiday for ANZAC Day.

Term 2 begins on Wednesday April 26.

Holy Week Liturgy

The Year 3-6 classes participated in a Holy Week Liturgy on Tuesday in the open learning space. Several children read readings and prayers.  Each child took home a cross made by the 3/4 students to remind them that Easter is a celebration of New Life given to each of us through the suffering and death of Jesus on the Cross at Calvary. Thank you to Miss Mahney for preparing the liturgy for us.

Stations of the Cross Walk

Classes did a reflective walk around the school to reflect on the artwork created by classes to depict the story of Jesus' journey from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday and his resurrection from the dead.  See photos below.

FROM THE RE LEADER - ELIZA DWYER

The following students recieved their Reconciliation award for their completion of the sacrament Reconciliation: Rose Greene, Piper Lawrance, Layla Frost, Joel Hennig, Spencer Bant, Claire McNeil, Cooper Dumesny, Archie Cameron.

Art Exhibition at Moyne Health

Art work was selected from Year 1-6 classes to be displayed at Moyneyana House this week.  Our students who had pieces chosen visited the residents and had afternoon tea with them.  They told the residents about their art work and about what they've been doing at school.  It was lovely to hear stories from the residents about what it was like to be at school when they were at school. Some of them went to St. Patrick's.

Award winners were Inala Hayes, Joel Hennig, Connor Sheenan and Katie Keane.  The Year 6's and their buddies made Easter cards and gifts for the residents.

SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

Last week the St Patrick's Port Fairy Sustainability Team rode down to Pea Soup Beach and took part in beach monitoring. We were accompanied by our own Peter Sanderson and Nick Abbott from the local ‘Port Fairy Coastal Group’. Beach monitoring is where the student’s take measurements along the beach to monitor the tide levels and erosion. We did this by using a measurement pole, a lazer leveler and a reader. We had a huge 50m measuring tape and we measured the sand level of the beach. We also had a rope with markers which is what we used to measure. Deakin University and Port Fairy Coastal Care use this data to monitor the erosion levels all around the Port Fairy beaches.

Below is the link to the ‘Port Fairy Coastal Group’ website where we have been featured on the front page.
