CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome Back!  I hope you all had a joyfilled Easter and a relaxing holiday. After nearly 3 weeks break it was lovely to see the children's happy faces and see their eagerness to get back into classroom routines. This term our mantra is "Learning is Urgent".  With a shorter term and less interuptions it is fitting that we make the most of the learning time we have.

FROM THE RE LEADER - ELIZA DWYER

The latest issue of Our Diocesan News is available in the link below. Read about what's happening in schools all around the Diocese.  We have a Sustainability Article featured in this issue.

Our Diocesan News

ANZAC Day

On Tuesday four of our Leaders represented St. Patrick's School at the ANZAC Day ceremony. Together with Port Fairy Consolidated Leaders, they presented a collaborative reading identifying the personal traits exhibited by the ANZACs and how these attributes can be a shining example for them in their challenges as young Australians.

Thank you to Miss Lee and the parents who made this representation possible on a public holiday.

Gabrielle Wang, Australian Children's Laureate for 2022–23

We were very lucky to have children's author/illustrator Gabrielle Wang visit St. Patrick's to conduct a workshop with years 3-6 students.  Gabrielle has been chosen as the Australian Children's Laureate for 2022-23 for her dedication to children's literature.  She has published over 20 titles and generously donated two of her books to our library.  She guided the children through the process of drawing a dragon.

NCCD Information Sheet for Parents, Carers and Guardians

Schools must now complete the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with
Disability (NCCD) every year. It counts the number of students who receive additional adjustments
or “help” at school because of a disability. The NCCD helps governments plan for the needs of
students with disability.

COMMUNITY NEWS

DOBCEL Consultative Committee Leadership Vacancies

The DOBCEL Board provides opportunities for members of the diocesan education community, and others with relevant expertise, to participate in the mission of DOBCEL, to assist its governance and decision making and to inform faithful stewardship of the mission through DOBCEL Consultative Committees. A range of vacancies exists across the DOBCEL Consultative Committees. These committees are an invaluable opportunity to ensure that the work of the Board and CEB reflects the needs of DOBCEL school communities right across the Diocese. Typically, the committees meet once each term for a duration of 90-120 Minutes. The opportunity exists to attend face-to-face or virtually.  For volunteers to the organisation, compensation for expenses is available.

Opportunities exist for parents/guardians/carers with a child/children enrolled in a DOBCEL School to join one of the following;

  • Catholic Faith Community & Culture Consultative Committee
  • Children & Young People Safeguarding & Wellbeing Consultative Committee
  • Family and Community Engagement Consultative Committee
  • Learning and Teaching Consultative Committee

In the event of multiple nominations, the Board will invite Consultative Committee members on the basis of the general balance of the committee, taking into account factors such as gender, diversity, skill mix, location, school size, etc. For more information please contact Jo Mckee  jmckee@dobcel.catholic.edu.au or speak with your school principal. Expressions of interest are open until Wednesday, 3rd May."
