CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a great week it has been?

The Athletic Sports Day was a highlight for the week.  It was on the warm side but the children did a great job of getting on with their events and doing their best.  Thank you to Tommy Greene for preparing the students for the events and to all staff who worked as a team to make the day a success.

The staff attended a Structured Literacy Professional Learning day on Thursday at Deakin University.  The day presented new information but also confirmed that we are well down the path of deliveing a Structured Literacy approach to reading and writing. Congratulations to the staff who have been so receptive of the challenges that change brings.  They are committed to upskilling themselves so that they provide the very best education for your students.

Next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday all classes will attend sessions with the STOMP Dance Company.  This will then continue on Monday and Tuesday in the following week. Don't be surprised if there are some dance moves being practiced at home.

Please save the date for our Open Classrooms and BBQ night.  It's a great opportunity to see where your childen do their learning, meet the teachers and socialise with other families.  Thursday February 29 - Classrooms are open between 4:30 and 5:30 followed by the BBQ.  Get your food orders in to avoid disappointment by 3pm Friday February 23.

Our First School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting for 2024 will be held on Tuesday February 27 at 7:30pm in the school boardroom.

Olga Lyons

FROM THE RE LEADER - ELIZA DWYER

WHAT IS LENT?

Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter.

During Lent, many people decide to give something up that they love - perhaps chocolate, sweets or even using social media.

Others might decide to take up something, like helping out more with chores at home or making an effort to do nice things for their family and friends.

CONDOLENCES

We send our condolences to the Porter family on the death of Bree's grandmother.

THE WELLBEING BAROMETER SURVEY - 2024

The Wellbeing Barometer survey has become a crucial tool for schools, offering insights into youth mental health and wellbeing. By understanding community concerns and the nature of these issues, schools are better equipped to support families and foster meaningful conversations, thereby building stronger relationships. This survey is part of an ongoing, longitudinal study, with the results being instrumental in tailoring support for students and their families.

Participation is strongly encouraged, as it provides a comprehensive view of students' experiences, challenges and achievements over the past year. Participating in this year's survey, will assist our school in identifying areas of strength and concern, as well as pinpointing opportunities for early intervention. The survey aims to capture a comprehensive picture of young people's lives, allowing for a tailored approach to enhance mental and emotional wellbeing.

Parents and Caregivers are encouraged to complete either one or both of the surveys below, depending on the age of your children.

Please complete one survey for each child you have at St Patrick's. There is no limit to how many times you can complete the survey. This will allow you to provide more accurate responses based on individual children.

Remember, all responses remain anonymous and should reflect observations made over the last 12 months. Survey results are only reported on an aggregated basis.
