CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our classes are currently completing assessments in literacy and numeracy that will inform the end of year reports. We have had a high proportion of absences for non-illness related reasons. Please try to minimise the days your child is away from school so that they can participate in the assessments with their peers.

We are all getting very excited about the Colour Run tomorrow.  Don't forget to send the children in old clothes (a light coloured or white t-shirt if possible).  The colour run is in the last hour of the day and parents are welcome to come to watch.

The weeks are slipping by and our planning for 2025 is well underway. Here are the teachers for each year level.

Foundation - Peita Cryer

Year 1 - Bec Greene and Tristan Fay

Year 2 - Samantha Kenna

Year 3A - Benson Steere and Monique McCartney

Year 3B - Annie Templeton and Abby Lee

Year 4 - Daniel Lucardie and Anne Robertson

Year 5 - Antonia Balmer

Year 6 - Rachael Osborne and Michelle Malone

Olga Lyons

FROM THE RE LEADER - ELIZA DWYER

REMEMBRANCE DAY TRIBUTE

Our year 5 & 6 students will be visiting the RSL on Monday morning and participating in the Remembrance Day ceremony at the War Memorial.  The school leaders will lay a wreath and all students will place a poppy on a wreath as a veteran's name is being called. Thank you to the RSL for inviting us to take part in this important event. Parents are welcome to attend.

BASKETBALL COURT RENOVATION

GREAT NEWS!  Our long awaited basketball court renovation is set to start on November 18th (new date) and will be completed by November 27th (all going to plan). We have been fund raising for this for 3 years now so it's great to see that we are finally able to get it done. This has been an amazing effort by our wonderful P & F committee and families.

We need one last push with the Colour Run donations.

PIRATE DAY - WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 27

Our Pirate Dress Up Day is to support The Fred Hallow Foundation. Thirty years ago, The Fred Hollows Foundation began a global movement to end avoidable blindness. Olga received a letter from some Year 3 students asking if the school would support this foundation and of course we are very happy to do it.

BANDARI PROJECT - BOOMERANG BAGS

TRAFFIC VIOLATION ALERT

It has been reported to some parents are parking cars on the grass at the Cox Street end of Williams Street, particularly near the crossing, this is making it difficult to see if children are waiting to cross. This visibility issue could pose a safety risk, especially during busy pick-up times. Traffic regulations state that you cannot park within 20m before and 10m after a pedestrian or children's crossing.  PLEASE HELP TO KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE!

While on the topic of crossings, we have noticed a number of children and parents not using the crossings to cross very busy roads at pick up times.  Please lead by example and use the crossings yourself and teach the children to do the same.
