CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a busy first term its been! Thank you to all of our students, staff and parents for a successful and action packed 10 weeks, particularly to those who have given volunteer hours to making the many events happen.

Our final assembly will be on Friday at 1.30pm, which will include the Easter Egg Raffles.  Pick up time is at 2.20pm - an hour earlier than usual.

Congratulations to the 9 Year 6 students who made their Sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday night.  Next term our Year 3's will have the opportunity to make their Confirmation.

Our SunSmart Policy stipulates sun hats are to be worn outdoors as part of the school uniform from early August until the end of April.  Therefore, hats can go home before the holidays and return to school at the beginning of term 3.

I hope everyone has a good holiday and a happy New Year!  Remember that there are 2 public holidays and 3 closure days in Week 1.  We look forward to seeing you and your children on Monday April 28.

Olga Lyons

Cybersafety

In today's digital world, young people are more connected than ever, using technology for education, social interaction, and entertainment. While the internet offers incredible opportunities, it also presents significant risks, including cyberbullying, online predators, exposure to inappropriate content, and excessive screen time. Cybersafety is about equipping children and adolescents with the skills and knowledge to navigate the digital landscape responsibly. This includes fostering open communication between parents and children, implementing appropriate parental controls, educating young people about privacy and online etiquette, and encouraging a balanced approach to technology use. By promoting digital wellbeing and responsible online behaviour, we can help young people harness the benefits of technology while staying safe in an increasingly connected world.

SPORTING SCHOOLS - TERM 2

The starting date for Sporting Schools in Term 2 is Tuesday May 6. The days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. The last day will be Thursday June 19.

To sign your child/children up for Sporting Schools use the eForm on the Schoolzine App the night before or the morning of the session that they will be attending. Please do not sign up days/weeks in advance, plans often change and we will be expecting them to attend.

THANK YOU!

This year, Warrnambool Collins Booksellers is offering five free 'Children's Book Council of Australia 2025' books to our school. They are a family-owned bookshop. They care about kids' literacy, who believe in the profound benefits of reading and sharing stories, and they want to do something special this year to support our efforts in this area.

NEW QUIET PLAY AREA DURING ASSEMBLIES

New Quiet Play Area During Assemblies

To ensure our assemblies run smoothly and without distractions, we are opening the back room in the hall as a designated quiet play area for younger children. This space will allow little ones to play quietly while still being part of the school community, helping to maintain focus for the students presenting. We kindly ask that parents supervise their children in this area and encourage quiet activities. This space is to be left neat and tidy. Thank you for your support in making our assemblies a positive experience for everyone!
